Thoracic Biometrics – Investigations of the Human Heartbeat as a Biometric: Heart Sounds, Electrocardiogram, and Vibrometry Final Report
نویسندگان
چکیده
The goals of this research project were to determine biometric performance measurements for the acoustic, electrical and pulse signals produced by the heart, referred to as thoracic signals, and to identify if a relationship exists between the electrical and pulse signals. Prior work by other research groups exist which addresses the first goal however, to our knowledge, there are no publications that address the second goal.

Concurrent atrioventricular block, sinus arrest and pneumothorax in a dog secondary to vehicle accident
In human several kinds of electrocardiographic findings have been reported in association with pneumothorax such as decreased and/or alternating QRS amplitude (electrical alternans). However, electrocardiographic changes concurrent with pneumothorax have rarely been discussed in veterinary literature. A 3-year-old male crossbreed dog was presented with a history of car accident. Thoracic au...
متن کاملSliding Mode Control For Heartbeat Electrocardiogram Tracking Problem
In this paper, we have exploited the first-order sliding mode control method to track the ECG data of the human heart by three different nonlinear control laws. In order to lessen the intrinsic chattering of the classic sliding mode control system, smooth function approximations of the control input, by means of the hyperbolic tangent and the saturation function, were used. The fast Fourier tra...
متن کاملHeartbeat Signal from Facial Video for Biometric Recognition
Different biometric traits such as face appearance and heartbeat signal from Electrocardiogram (ECG)/Phonocardiogram (PCG) are widely used in the human identity recognition. Recent advances in facial video based measurement of cardio-physiological parameters such as heartbeat rate, respiratory rate, and blood volume pressure provide the possibility of extracting heartbeat signal from facial vid...
متن کاملReal Time Electrocardiogram Segmentation for Finger based ECG Biometrics
In biometric recognition based on Electrocardiographic (ECG) signals, there are two main approaches for feature extraction: fiducial and non-fiducial. Fiducial methods use points of interest within single heartbeat waveforms, obtained by segmenting the ECG signal using QRS complexes as a reference. In this paper we study several QRS detection algorithms, with the purpose of determining what is ...
متن کاملHuman identification using heart sound
In this paper, we investigate the possibility of using heart sound as a biometric for human identification. The most significant contribution of using heart sound as a biometric is that it cannot be easily simulated or replicated as compared to other conventional biometrics. Our approach consists of a robust feature extraction scheme which is based on cepstral analysis with a specified configur...
